Join the Controllers’ RoundTable for our first event of the 2010 season as we discuss a year in the life of your budget. From Q1 to Q4, our panel of seasoned executives will break down the best practices necessary to create, manage, and report on a budget that everyone, even your sales team, will love.
During this interactive discussion, panelists will concentrate on the best practices for controllers to adopt when working through the mechanics of their budget, including information-gathering, departmental budgeting, identification of business drivers, and execution and reporting.
Panelists will also discuss the best practices to managing a successful budget, including flexibility, useability, getting departmental and executive buy-in, key revenue models, and pitfalls to avoid.
Learning Objectives:
After this program, attendees will be able to:
- Master the mechanics of the budgeting process, including planning, data gathering, execution and reporting
- Identify business drivers and anticipate potential scenarios that could affect budgets
- Approach budgeting from both ‘bottoms up’ and ‘tops down’
- Integrate best practices, including flexibility and useability, into their budget management process
- Implement best practices to model revenue and forecasting
- Evaluate their own technological platform to manage their budget
Panelists include:
Dennis Hernreich, EVP, CFO and COO, Casual Male Retail Group
Mr. Hernreich joined the Company in September 2000 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Since he joined the Company, Casual Male Retail Group, Inc. has:
- Market cap of the Company has increased by a multiple of 15;
- Helped transform the Company from an outlet operator to a national men’s specialty retailer;
- Updated the Company’s operating infrastructure to provide an efficient platform for long term growth;
- Co-authored the business plan to effect CMRG’s turnaround strategy of increased market share, and operating margins
Prior to joining Casual Male Retail Group, Mr. Hernreich was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Pennsylvania Fashions, Inc., a 275 store retail outlet chain operating under the name Rue 21. Additionally, Mr. Hernreich was also Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Loehmann’s Inc., one of the largest off-price woman’s apparel companies. Dennis is a CPA and a graduate from the University of Illinois where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Kevin Rhodes, CFO, Plumchoice:
Kevin is responsible for building and monitoring the strong financial metrics of PlumChoice, while directing the overall accounting, audit and tax and investor relation functions and associated practices within the company. He also helps to evaluate strategic business opportunities that support the company's future growth. He joined PlumChoice in September 2009.
Kevin's depth of experience spans all major financial disciplines. Prior to joining PlumChoice, he served as Chief Financial Officer for eight years with a high growth, publicly held firm, Edgewater Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: EDGW), where he held a pivotal role within the management team. Edgewater is a provider of technology management consulting services primarily in the business intelligence and data services space. He also held senior financial management positions with Eliassen Group, Inc., a technology staffing and solutions firm and within Waste Management, Inc., a Fortune 100 environmental services and manufacturing company. Kevin began his career with Simione, Macca & Larow, CPAs, and is Certified Public Accountant.
Kevin serves on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee for the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, on the Board of Directors for the Financial Executives International - Boston Chapter, and on the organizing committee for the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital "Celebration of Life" program.
He holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Merrimack College and an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College, graduating summa cum laude.
Jim Triandflou, President & CEO, ServiceCEO
Jim is a seasoned executive who has played a leadership role in building three companies. He has experience turning around existing businesses, creating high-performance teams, and raising capital using a combination of leadership skills, a focus on execution, and the ability to build relationships with C-level executives. An industry leader in sales effectiveness and management, Jim is a frequent speaker at industry events and has served as a faculty member at the Columbia Business School Executive Education Program on Sales Management.
Jim joined ServiceCEO as President & CEO in July 2010. Since joining he has the led the transition of the business from a Desktop software company to a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company. Prior to joining Insight Direct, Jim was Chief Operating Officer at Centive. He led the turnaround of the company’s on-premise software business while simultaneously launching the industry’s first SaaS sales compensation product leading to Centive’s acquisition by Xactly. As founder, President and CEO of Ockham Technologies, Jim raised capital, secured the company’s first customers, and rapidly grew the business before guiding the company to its acquisition by Centive. Jim has also held executive and management positions at The Alexander Group and Bozell Advertising.
Jim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the State University of New York College at Oswego and a MBA in International Marketing from Arizona State University. An avid runner, Jim completed the 2008 and 2009 Boston Marathons. When he’s not rooting for the Red Sox or spending time with his wife and four children, Jim volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has “granted” seven wishes.
